General Notes

The FL9s were built originally for the New Haven railroad. The entire fleet was conveyed to Penn Central in 1970 (two years after the merger of New York Central and Pennsylvania RR). Transferred to Conrail six years later, the FL9s were sequentially renumbered in the 5000 series (CR 5000-5059).

  • Locomotives carry consecutive serial numbers
  • #2000 & 2001 (b/n 21946 & 21947 in January 1957)
  • #2002 - 2029 (b/n 21948-21975 in July-November 1957)
  • #2030 - 2059 (b/n 21976-22006 in September-November 1960)
