* * * Notes * * *
  1. C&NW 1689 has been donated to the Illinois Railway Museum by B&K Engineering. She was part of the last order of Alco 244 engines built for the C&NW. The loco was acquired by B&K while it was still working out of Huron, and in fact the C&NW continued using her for a month after the sale.
  2. The 1689 was leased briefly to the Chicago Madison & Northern, which NEVER owned her. It was then used or leased by the following operations before visiting the Mad River & NKP Railroad museum:
      -- Central of Wisconsin
      -- Indiana Erie
      -- Western Maryland Scenic Railroad
      -- Northern Central Railway Dinner Train
      -- Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad
  3. The C&NW paint restoration for her 50th birthday was done at the Fitswater shop on the CVSR. She is now right at home on a C&NW line at the IRM and was even fired up on June 19th with a helpful jump from C&NW 6847
  4. B&K has also owned, leased and sold several other Alcos and MLWs that are still running.
